WHO WE ARE
Hello! Welcome to Buckeye Catholic! We are the Catholic campus ministry serving the undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff of The Ohio State University. Residing across the street from campus on Lane Avenue, the St. Thomas More Newman Center is the home for our ministry. Buckeye Catholic encompasses all campus ministry efforts present, including the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), and Saint Paul’s Outreach (SPO). We serve as one body to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with every student at Ohio State.
We are the epicenter for the evangelization of young adults in the Columbus area. We operate within the Diocese of Columbus under the guidance of Bishop Earl Fernandes. With the assistance of various Dominican friars, visiting priests, and bishops across the state, Buckeye Catholic aims to create a home for all students here at Ohio State.
Our Mission is Clear
Buckeye Catholic meets college students who are faced with many worldly temptations and brings them closer to the person of Jesus Christ. By providing student-centered programs and collaborating with our branches of ministry, we will:
- Draw students to an encounter with Jesus Christ
- Encourage students’ discovery and growth in the faith
- Guide students to develop an intentional prayer life
- Develop leaders who will go forth to enliven parishes
- Walk with students in discerning their vocation
We pray that through the Buckeye Catholic ministry, every student at The Ohio State University will have a radical encounter with the person of Jesus Christ, know His love for them, and share the joy and peace of the Gospel with others.
