Music Director
JOB SUMMARY
St. Thomas More Newman Center is the home to Buckeye Catholics at The Ohio State University. We are seeking a full-time Director of Music. The Director of Music sees themselves as a missionary disciple in service of the church who uses music as a means of evangelization and formation.
The Director of Music works with the pastor, assistant director, choir members, cantors, and other musicians to offer praise to God through sacred music. He/she is responsible for providing a sacred music program that beautifies the liturgy and draws the faithful into more active participation in the Sacred Mysteries. Therefore, the director of music must have a thorough understanding of the Church’s liturgy and sacred music tradition. He/she must also excel at recruiting, motivating, and training students of various ages and skill levels. Given our proximity to Ohio State’s Music School with an exceptional music program, there are many opportunities to collaborate with trained musicians.
The Director of Music is responsible for ensuring that all weekend, holy day, and special masses have music available. Our mass times currently are 5:30 pm Saturday anticipatory Mass, as well as the 10, 12, 6 pm, and 9 pm Masses on Sunday. In the summer the Mass schedule is as follows: Saturday 5:30, Sunday at 10 and 12. Mass times are subject to change. Due to the nature of the position, the music minister will need to be willing to work with a non-traditional schedule.

Facilities Assistant Written/Revised 1/17/23
Parish: St. Thomas More Newman Center Hours: 20/week
Responsible to: Assistant Director
- JOB SUMMARY
The Facilities Assistant works with the Assistant Director to always ensure a clean and operational facility. They work to ensure that all our facilities and components are operating properly and Their role includes set up and tear down of events, routine janitorial responsibilities, and routine maintenance. The facilities manager will also work with outside contractors in the event of special maintenance and repairs.
- ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Routine maintenance and special repair or building (changing lightbulbs, refilling supplies, etc.)
- Weekly cleaning of bathrooms, common spaces, office suite, and sanctuary area.
- Spot cleaning as needed
- Set up and tear down of events in social areas
- Working with outside contractors to complete building maintenance
- Maintaining adequate supply of all necessary equipment for proper building functioning
- Necessary Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills to record and sort information related to building projects
- Ability to manage and prioritize several projects as once
- An understanding of basic sanitation, repair, and routine maintenance
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance

ADHERENCE TO CHURCH TEACHINGS
All personnel who serve in Catholic employment are expected to be examples of Catholic moral behavior and professionalism. All personnel, regardless of their religious affiliation, are therefore required to abide by the moral values advanced by the teachings of Christ, the tenets of the Catholic Church, and the policies and regulations of the Diocese and the employing agency or office. Personnel may be disciplined or terminated for violations of these standards, or any conduct which appears to reject or offend the teachings, doctrines, or principles of the Catholic Church.
