The Mustard Seed Cafe

And [the mustard seed] is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and rest in its branches.  Matthew 13:32

As a Catholic community of faith, we commit ourselves to acting upon the call to charity and justice as found in Catholic Social Teaching. Our Food for the Homeless ministry prepares and serves over 500 meals each month in area shelters and on the streets. While this effort is significant, it addresses only a small fraction of the needs facing the homeless in our community. This year, we will continue our newest initiative in the fight against hunger - The Mustard Seed Cafe! On OSU home football game days, the Newman Center will be out front on Lane Avenue selling hot dogs, brats, chips and drinks to fans and passers-by. In addition to providing some much-needed sustenance, we will also be raising money to support our Food for the Homeless efforts. But we cannot do this without your help.

Lend a hand! We are looking for volunteers to help prepare and serve food on game days. Help at one game or for the whole season using this easy online form. Adults and children are welcome so bring your families and friends!

Become a sponsor! Thanks to generous sponsors, we will be able to apply 100 percent of the proceeds to our Food for the Homeless Ministry and some sponsorship opportunities are still available.

For more information or questions, please contact the Newman Center development office.

Nobody said that raising money can't be fun - or tasty. This season, come to the The Mustard Seed Cafe to feed hungry Buckeyes...and the hungry in our community.
